UCSD PhIG Jan 2021: ICM

January’s Photography Interest Group meeting theme was Intentional (or Internal) Camera Movement. I really enjoy the effect using slow shutter speeds and capturing movement creates. Following fast moving objects by using a slow shutter speed and panning has always been on of my favorite techniques. But this assignment, I was hoping to go more abstract. I follow some YouTube photographers who use this technique with great success, taking ICM to a higher level of art. I know it’s a difficult technique to master and requires a lot of trial-and-error to find appropriate subjects, lighting, and camera settings. Here are some of the best results I was able to do: snow day in Anza CA on New Years Day; some floral abstractions and layering multiple images, for combined effect of sharp & blurred elements.
