Sheltering-In-Place Diary: Day 15

It’s been a couple weeks since we started sheltering-in-place due to the Covid-19 pandemic afflicting the world. We left Rome Italy Jan 4th because of an unrelated family emergency so only got a few days there (Dec 30-Jan 4). I am deeply saddened to see current pandemic conditions there so soon after our trip. We had a great time the few days we were there and send our prayers to everyone affected.
Being over 60 yrs old has made us extra-vigilant with our practices related to the virus. We’ve stocked up (not hoarding) on some basic food items, being already adequately stocked on things like toilet paper and disinfectant wipes. Buying such things at CostCo always gives us enough to that lasts months.
Two weeks ago was the last time we were able to eat at a restaurant. If we do order take-out such as Rubios or Board & Brew, we are extra careful handling the packaging. Wiping down the exterior of containers with disinfecting wipes before transferring the food to a plate or bowl. Same with anything we receive from Amazon or UPS. Wiping the outside of the box or envelope before dumping the contents. What a strange time…
The hardest part of this whole mess is being unable to see our family, particularly the grandchildren. This may change shortly since its been 14 days with no symptoms. Bedtime storytime via Facetime has been better than nothing but we miss them terribly.
