My first photo trip of the year was to Anza-Borrego State Park to photograph wildflowers with the Nikkor 105mm macro lens. Wildflowers were blooming and beautiful but the extremely windy conditions were a challenge. I also brought my Godox V1 flash but never had a chance to put it to use. Both will travel to Arizona in March. The bokeh of the macro 105mm is a look I want to pursue in a variety of photo genres.
The weather became the subject of opportunity versus wildflowers. The evening sky and clouds in the extreme winds were phenomenal. The amount of sand blowing past the metal sculptures of Anza-Borrego were blinding. Besides a case of ‘desert lung’, I was able to grab a few shots that were keepers. Unfortunately, the light and the sandstorm were fleeting but it was an adrenaline rush.
